How to take care of fine wood furniture?
Avoid placing furniture in direct sunlight. Diffused sunlight over a long period of time can be as harmful as direct sunlight over a short period of time.
► Avoid extremes of humidity and temperature, do not place antiques close to heating vents, radiators or air conditioning. Try to maintain fairly constant humidity.
► Avoid placing hot or wet items directly on furniture without coaster or mat protection. Blot up spills immediately.
► Avoid aerosol spray polishes because they can contain silicone oil and other agents that can be harmful to your furniture. They can also make refinishing difficult because, even after stripping, a new finish won't adhere. Vacuum or dust with a soft cloth. Every couple of months, wax with a good quality paste wax.
